Internship Junior Engineer Managing Composites

Description

Junior Engineer

At Managing Composites, we’re looking for a Junior Engineer to support the technical development of composite projects and learn how real engineering projects are delivered end‑to‑end.

Instead, you’ll be close to the technical day‑to‑day of projects, working alongside experienced engineers from design, analysis and manufacturing, learning how parts are developed, manufactured and validated.

If you enjoy being hands-on with the technical details of projects, you’ll love it here.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of assigned parts or systems, understanding their function, constraints, and manufacturing challenges.
  • Understanding how the components can be optimized, always keeping in mind, weight, cost, development time and performance.
  • Work closely with project managers and senior engineers to support and develop design, analysis, and manufacturability, helping to clarify requirements and support design reviews.
  • Assist in identifying technical issues or risks by gathering information, analysing options, and escalating to senior engineers when needed. But also opportunities that can make the component, process or solution more robust.
  • Support project tracking activities: updating timelines, deliverables, and technical status under supervision.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, workshop) and support communication with suppliers alongside experienced engineers.
  • Maintain technical documentation related to assigned parts or systems, including drawings, versions, change logs, and status updates.

Requirements

  • Engineering background (Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials or similar) or currently studying an engineering degree.
  • Understanding of composite materials and manufacturing processes, or strong interest in learning them.
  • Ability to understand technical drawings and engineering concepts (layups, thicknesses, tolerances, basic GD&T).
  • Organised and detail‑oriented, with good habits for documentation and tracking work.
  • Problem‑solving mindset and willingness to ask questions and learn.
  • Basic to intermediate competence with Excel or similar tools.
  • Comfortable communicating in English and Spanish in a technical environment.
  • Hands‑on attitude and huge motivation to grow in a practical engineering role.
